COMMUNITY

Community outreach and education is provided by the Center's staff, and volunteers who have completed sexual assault certification training. Contacts are developed with other social service agencies, law enforcement, service groups, parent-teacher associations, trade and union groups, the faith community, work places and other interested community groups.

Education topics include
  • the Center's sexual assault services
  • services to adult survivors of childhood sexual assault
  • the Sexual Assault Response Team program
  • prevention and safety measures
  • historical and cultural perspectives on sexual assault
  • specialized services to the elderly, young people and persons with disabilities.

We also address these topics to Spanish speaking audiences within the community at the Public Health Department, CalWORKS, Healthy Start programs and WIC.

Similar information is provided to newspapers and other print media. We have developed and run 15 second slides on Women's Center services in the local theater before every movie and have a series of 15 second commercials on child safety on the local cable tv channel during programs of interest to teens and younger children.

Anyone who would like to arrange for a group presentation should contact The Center business office at (530) 626-1450.
