COUNSELING

Individual Counseling

The Center's peer counseling staff provide individual counseling to domestic violence and sexual assault victims at the Placerville office during business hours and at various public locations during evening and weekend hours for crisis interventions. We also provide counseling at a local high school for teens who have experienced sexual assault, harassment, dating violence or molest. All counseling is supervised by the Counseling Coordinator (a masters level counselor). Individual counseling is provided by a staff peer counselor.

Group Counseling

The Center offers support groups for survivors of domestic violence and also adults molested as children (AMAC) on a periodic basis as client numbers are sufficient. The AMAC groups are facilitated by the Counseling Coordinator with a peer counselor or trained volunteer as co-facilitator. These groups may last up to sixteen weeks and address client issues being experienced in adulthood by survivors of incest, molest, and sexual assault. The groups are closed and a client may continue with the AMAC groups as long as they feel is necessary for healing.

Domestic violence groups are held each Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning on a drop-in basis. An experienced peer counselor and volunteer facilitate these groups. Please call The Center at (530) 626-1450 to verify group meeting times.
