The Center for Violence Free Relationships (formerly the El Dorado Women’s Center) is dedicated to building healthy relationships, families and communities free from sexual assault and domestic violence through education, advocacy and services in western El Dorado County.
Community outreach and education are provided by the Center's staff, and volunteers who have completed domestic violence and sexual assault certification training. Presentations are available on domestic violence, sexual assault, workplace safety for victims and employers, faith community responses to violence, elder abuse and domestic violence, Women's Center services and other subjects of interest to the community.
Sexual Harassment and Self Defense Program
The Center maintains a comprehensive rape prevention program using trained sexual assault staff and volunteers. Our programs are offered in middle and high schools, community and service groups, parent-teacher associations, to adults and children with disabilities and other groups requesting prevention education. Curriculum includes physical and non-physical self defense, assertiveness training, drug facilitated rape, sexual assault in dating relationships, effects of rape trauma syndrome, gender bias and sexual assault, sexual harassment and other programs creating awareness of the effects of sexual assault on the individual and our community.
Education for Children and Youth
The Center develops and implements curriculum on healthy relationships, dating violence, bully prevention and child abuse prevention for students and teachers from Pre-kindergarten through High School throughout the western slope of the county.
